Highlighting Our Volunteers:
Francine Zick:
NewPASSAGES would like to congratulate Francine (Event Committee Member) and her husband Dave on becoming first time grandparents and to say “thank you” for all your support to NewPASSAGES.
Francine has been a volunteer and philanthropist on several fundraising committees for many years. Some organizations that have benefited from Francine’s work are Michigan State University, the University of Michigan, the University of Michigan-Flint, The Baldwin Center, NewPASSAGES, HAVEN, the Upland School and the Hope Center. Not only does she donate her time serving food to the homeless, but she also serves on numerous fundraising committees as well as donating her own funds for leadership, “innovation and incentive gifts”. More recently, she has helped raise funds for the “Legends and Heroes” Gala, an event that aims to not only educate people about mental disabilities. Everyone who works with Francine benefits from her great wisdom, skills, philanthropy and kindness.
Francine is a finalist for the Jewell Award for Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser.
Congratulations and thank you Francine.

The NewPASSAGES Communication Campaign has finally “kicked off” with a training seminar held at the wonderful Warwick Hills Golf Club House on June 19th, 2008.
Over 70 NewPASSAGES staff attended whilst Brenda Watkins (MALA) presented inconjuction with Fund Development/Communications/HR, a wonderful and interesting seminar titled “Communications and Customer Relations”.
How should you answer a telephone call?
Greet people with a smile and good handshake!
Presenting your self correctly and positively.
These are just some of the subjects covered in this seminar.
A lot of positive feedback has been given. Please send us your written comments about this seminar and campaign; we’d love to publish them…..
The next step in the Campaign is to provide this training to all NewPASSAGES staff through their Senior Area Managers. Also please go to our web site: www.newpassages.org where there are new web site pages and links being installed with Communication information and tool kits for you to access and use.

| Congratulations to Dr. Jacobs for receiving the Diversity Champion Award from the Race Relations & Diversity Task Force on April 17, 2008. The ceremony was attended by Daniel Montes, Vice President - Commercial Banking at Citizens Bank, and Secretary of New Passages’ Board of Directors (pictured below with Dr. Jacobs). Also in attendance was Janette Kolodge, VP of Fund Development and Lou Vader, Event Specialist/Fund Development. |
