George wrote the following about what it is like to have a disability.
Come and Walk with me
Walk with me through this life and you shall see what I have truly been through abuse and pain, feeling of not being wanted and loved just a total mess up and a person that would not amount to any thing.
Walk with me through this life and you shall see the other side of this person, the side for years that has been hidden from view and sight by all. The side that hurts and feels unwanted by all.
Walk with me through this life and you shall see that it’s really hard for me to let people into my life, for I fear that they will laugh at me and put me down, and say mean and evil things to me and about me.
Walk with me through this journey called life and you shall see that in this world, it is not all fun and games but it is very real and I must keep people out. For I will probably just be a person on the outside of the window looking in, wanting to be in but realizing that I am out.
Walk with me through this journey of life and you like all the rest will turn and flee, or better yet turn and run for the hills because I am the one that you do not want to be around, because I do not fit into your world and you do not fit into mine.
Walk with me through this life and you will see how distracted I really am and you begin to see just what this person has been keeping hidden deep, deep inside for years.
Come walk with me through this life and you will begin to see just what I have been through and am still going through to be on the inside looking out for me is really no better the being on the outside looking in.
So try this one thing before you dare to judge me come and walk with me.
